QRME - THE ORGANISATION

VISION

Improving health for rural communities through education

MISSION

Rural health education by rural communities, in rural communities, for rural communities.

Queensland Rural Medical Education Limited (QRME) promotes and advances rural and remote health practice through training, research and collaboration with government and strategic health agencies.

We achieve this by supporting rural doctors, hospitals, general practices and health students in their work and learning in rural communities.

QRME offers the opportunity to deal with a broader spectrum of clinical problems; a greater depth in clinical care; and support for developing a fulfilling professional and personal role within the community.

We have a team of qualified, experienced clinical educators that deliver our general practice exam preparation programs, Griffith University 3rd and 4th year rural medical student program and a Masters of Rural Medicine. Our research program is supported by clinical academics living and working in rural Queensland.

QRME has partnered with Griffith University to deliver the university’s rural clinical training, funded by the Commonwealth Government Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training program. As QRME is locally based, locally led and locally governed, it ensures a focused rural stream for the Griffith University health schools.

Our Considering Medicine Program and Pathways to Health Program aim to help increase the number of rural and indigenous students entering and graduating from health career courses.
