Stanthorpe is a charming country town located in the Great Dividing Range near the Queensland–New South Wales border. It is one of the State’s coldest regions amidst rich, fertile soil, ideal for its major industries of fruit, vegetables, wine, sheep and cattle. Known as Queensland’s Wine Capital, Stanthorpe boasts over 45 popular vineyards and wineries. Stanthorpe has excellent facilities and amenities in picturesque surroundings and offers relaxed country living for those who love simple luxuries.

Due to Stanthorpe’s high altitude of 1000 metres above sea level, the town receives some of the lowest temperatures in Queensland. It is not unusual for Stanthorpe to be subjected to frost ridden mornings and the odd snowfall in winter. The average lowest annual temperature is 0.9 degrees Celsius in July. However, without this climate some of Queensland’s best wines would not be able to grow.

The Stanthorpe community is extremely well serviced for a country town with access to diverse educational, cultural and leisure opportunities.

The town is surrounded by National Parks and local dams making adventures in the outdoors easily accessible.
